Shikharapur Community School, Pharping, Kathmandu, has become a model for the educational development of community.
The school was established in 2064 BS under the Sarbajanik Saichhik Guthi with the objective of providing school education to every child in the community. It has been playing a significant role in the educational development of south belt of Kathmandu including Pharping.
Shashi Sharma Aryal, a social worker, said that the initiatives taken by the school for the educational, social and behavior development of the students has brought positive change in the community.
General Secretary of A School for Community (ASC), Niroj Shrestha, said that the school has been running different programmes with Shikharapur Community Campus, Shikharapur Community Study Centre and Shesh Narayan Women School for the education development of Pharping area.
The school is the mother school of Khikharapur Open School run for informal education, he added.
School Principal Binod Mahat said that the school has also run the School Enrollment Campaign launched by the government.
