Senior govt officials take dip in Bagmati river

Amid the government's campaign to improve cleanliness of Bagmati river, senior government officials took bath in the river at Gaurighat, Kathmandu on Monday.

Chief Secretary Lila Mani Paudyal, Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister, Krishna Hari Banskota, and Secretary at the Ministry of Urban Development, Kishor Thapa, among others, took dips at Guheshwori Ghat on the occasion of the completion of the first year of the Cleaning Bagmati Campaign.

The team of the government officials including Chief Secretary Paudyal and around hundred other people, who were involved continuously in the Campaign, bathed in the Bagmati to give the message that the river is clean enough for holy dips, said Secretary Banskota.

Before taking bath, Chief Secretary Paudyal made the participants commit to the Cleaning Bagmati Campaign in the days ahead as well.

Secretary Banskota said the river water has become clean as compared to the past and that the cleaning campaign is resulting in gradual progress.
