The UCPN (Maoist) lawmakers continued to disrupt the Legislature-Parliament meeting on Thursday to protest against the government move to file murder case against the party cadres for their alleged involvement in the murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari of Fujel, Gorkha.

Speaking at the parliament meeting today, UCPN (Maoist) lawmaker Shakti Basent voiced his concern over lack of seriousness on the government's part about the ongoing activities against the Comprehensive Peace Agreement despite the warnings by his party.

"The government has not given a positive gesture about its commitment and honesty about the peace agreement, it appears the current government is being guided from somewhere else instead of urgency to complete peace and constitution," said Basnet. He added that there are definite procedure and fundamentals of the peace process and it cannot be taken ahead to meet vested interests of certain group.

Saying that the leaders of ruling party itself have stated that the Fujel incident is being hyped by pro-dollar people, Basnet demanded clarifications regarding the Rs 80 million allocated in the name of journalist Kanak Mani Dixit by Norwegian Embassy. He also demanded to know the truth behin Rs 5 million (50,000 dollars) deposited from London based HSBC bank in Dixit's account.

House Speaker Subash Chandra Nembang adjourned the House till 11 am tomorrow after the obstruction by the UCPN (M) lawmakers.

Emerging from the House meeting, UCPN (M) lawmaker Babaurm Bhattarai charged that journalist Kanak Mani Dixit, among other people, has brought Rs 60 million rupees in order to derail the peace process. He added that the amount was taken under the direction of "invisible forces".

"We [ UCPN (Maoist) will continue to obstruct the parliament until the two party cadres arrested in connection with Adhikari's murder are released," said leader Bhattarai.

The UCPN (Maoist) lawmakers have been obstructing the House meeting demanding withdrawal of the charge sheet filed against the party cadres in connection with the 2004 murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari of Fujel, Gorkha. The former rebel party has also been demanding the release of its cadres arrested for their alleged involved in the murder.
