Around 90 per cent children and labourers working in brick factories in Bhaktapur district are found suffering from skin disease and respiratory related problems, said doctors.
The children and labourers working in brick factories were found suffering from skin disease and respiratory related problems at a health camp launched by the Child Development Society with the support of the Save the Children targeting the eight brick factories at Jhaukhel on Bhaktapur district, Saturday.
As many as 552 labourers including 200 children underwent health check-up in the health camp.
Chief of the Jhaukhel Health Post, Yam Darlami, said that 90 per cent labourers were found suffering from skin disease and respiratory problem as they take bath and wash clothes with contaminated water and due to lack of pure drinking water and nutrient foods.
The children who underwent health check-up were found suffering from any types of infection, said programme coordinator of the Society, Yubraj Rokka.
A team of health workers of the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital and Jhaukhel Health Post were assigned for the same. Medicines were also distributed at free of cost in the camp.
