Celebrated lyricist and poet Chhetra Pratap Adhikari passed away on Sunday night. He was 72.
Adhikari died while undergoing treatment for heart disease at the Sahid Gangalal Heart Center in the capital. He had been admitted to the hospital after suffering a stroke on Saturday night, according to his family members.
Born in 1999 B.S (1942 AD) in Tanahun district, Adhikari had written many notable stories, poems and songs including books like Feri Euta Pariwartan and Pahad Dekhi Pahad Samma.
He also left an indelible mark in the Nepali music scene, writing memorable Nepali songs including‘Ma ta Laliguran Bhayechu’, which was sung by the great Narayan Gopal.
Adhikari had also served as Minister for Education during the Panchayati era. He is survived by two sons.
