The government has decided to relocate the Capital-based Central Jail to Bidur minicipality of Nuwakot district. The Central Jail is currently located at Sundhara in Kathmandu.
The prison will be relocated after constructing the infrastructure.
Earlier, various committees had suggested relocating the Central Jail citing security reasons.
A Cabinet meeting held on Thursday took such decision following the proposal tabled by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Meanwhile, the meeting also made placement of Secretary Prabhakar Pathak at the Office of the Prime Minister after his promotion on March 13.
Likewise, the Cabinet decided to provide Rs 30 million aid to the Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.
Also the meeting endorsed the grant of Rs 2.43 billion for the completion of Melamchi Tunnel.
