While the country made significant achievement by bringing down the number of rhino poaching incidents to zero last year, conservation officials are worried about the challenges ahead.
New poaching trends, lack of modern technology to effectively check such incidents and waning motivation levels among staff are some of the major challenges, according to them.
Speaking at a function, Director General of the Department of National Park and Wildlife Conservation (DNPWC) Megh Bahadur Pandey said, “We made a big achievement last year but giving it continuity is a huge challenge. We need to strengthen anti-poaching mechanisms, improve law enforcement tools and techniques,” he said.
