A funeral procession of the six of the 13 mountain climbers who died in an avalanche at the Mount Everest Base Camp was held in Kathmandu on Monday.
The procession carrying the bodies of the six climbers, who perished in an avalanche on Friday, was taken out from Bouddha and passed through Chabahil, Gaushala, Baneshwor, Putali Sadak, Jamal before ending up at Lainchaur.
Bodies of Neema Sherpa, Furwangdel Sherpa, Furtemba Sherpa, Ang Kaji Sherpa, Dorje Khatri and Aasman Tamang were kept at Lainchaur for final tributes.
They will be cremated as per Buddhist tradition at Swayambhunath, Teku and Bouddhanath Stupa today, according to Jering Sherpa.
Sixteen Sherpa guides had perished in an avalanche at the Everest Base Camp on April 18. 13 bodies have already been retrieved while the search mission is yet to retrieve the remaining three bodies buried underneath the snow. The search mission has been aborted citing 'too much risk involved'.
