The Ministry of Local Development and Federal Affairs has started homework on future federal set-up.
A meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Development Prakash Man Singh, who also leads a high-level directive committee, started fresh brainstorming on the matter on Friday. Altogether eight government secretaries were present in the meeting and decided to continue discussion with chief whips of major political parties in the beginning and endorsed a time table to this effect, according to the ministry.
DPM Singh instructed the secretaries for prompt preparations through their respective ministries. “To help the Constituent Assembly, the government side should start homework without any further delay,” Singh said.
The meeting also highlighted issues like possible local government structure, infrastructure needed for
headquarters of the federal states and its criteria, among others.
