A cabinet meeting held in Singha Durbar this morning reshuffled the responsibilities of 21 secretaries in various ministries and offices.
After the cabinet meeting, Minister for Information and Communication and government Spokesperson Minendra Rijal informed that the meeting decided to transfer Bishwo Prakash Pandit to the Ministry of Education, Surya Silwal to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Yubraj Bhusal to the Ministry of Finance, Suman Prasad Sharma to the Ministry of Information and Communications, Madhav Regmi to the Ministry of Irrigation, Dr Somlal Subedi to the National Planning Commission (NPC), Raj Kumar Malla to the Office of Vice-president, Durganidhi Sharma to the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Krishna Chandra Poudel to the Ministry of Science and Environment, Gyanendra Prasad Upadhyay to the Ministry of General Administration, Pratap Kumar Pathak to the Ministry of Youths and Sports, and Lok Darshan Regmi to the Ministry of Land Reforms.
Similarly, Shankar Adhikari has been transferred to the Office of Attorney General, Narayan Regmi to the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies, Hari Prasad Nepal to the National Vigilance Centre and Shriranjan Lakhe to the Commission for Water Resource and Energy.
The meeting also decided to hold by-elections in four vacant constituencies on June 22, 2014.
The Prime Minister and President of Nepali Congress (NC) Sushil Koirala was elected from Chitwan 4 and Banke-3, NC senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba from Dadeldhura and Kailali-6,CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal from Rautahat-1 and Kathmandu-2, Vice-chairperson of CPN (UML) was Bam Dev Gautam elected from Pyuthan-1 and Bardiya-1.
According to the Interim Constitution 2063, by election should be held in case a candidate win from two constituencies during the election.
