The Legislature Parliament session of the Constituent Assembly has been adjourned for one hour after the main opposition UCPN (Maoist) disrupted the parliamentary proceedings protesting against the government’s decision to file criminal lawsuit against Maoist cadres at Chitwan district court on the war-era Adhikari murder case.
Speaking at the opening session of the parliamentary meeting held at CA Hall in New Baneshwor at 11 am this morning, UCPN (M) leader Baburam Bhattarai accused the government of conspiring to “finish off” his party and also undermine the peace process by reviving the conflict era cases.
After Bhattarai ended his fiery speech, Maoist lawmakers disrupted the parliamentary proceedings which compelled Speaker Subash Nembang to postpone the House session for couple of hours.
The House session is scheduled to start deliberation on the bills concerning the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and the Commission on Disappearance. However, main opposition Maoist party is agitated by the government decision to file criminal lawsuit against 13 Maoist cadres and intends to disrupt all parliamentary proceedings until the cases are withdrawn.
