Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has directed the government secretaries to put in place arrangement to receive foreign aid that aligns the need and priority of the country by stopping its rampant receipt.
Issuing directive to different ministries' secretaries in mass on Sunday, Prime Minister Koirala ordered the government officials to act tough to discourage foreign aid spending in the activities that do not address the national priorities and welfare.
Expressing discontent over bare spending of one third of development budget by almost the end of fiscal year, Koirala directed the concerned government officials to make work schedule in a way to ensure timely spending of development budget.
"Let me provide with your empirical recommendation as what types of budget policy, Act and Regulations are required to make public spending allocated for development effectively within the fiscal year", the Prime Minister further said.
The incumbent government wants good governance marked with transparency and accountability, he said, directing secretaries to act tough in the practice accordingly to do away with corruption and red-tapism.
Noting that the government's priority is to maintain law and order routing criminals, goons and cheaters, Koirala suggested bureaucracy to develop information and enforcement mechanisms of the security agency effective and efficient for ensuring law and order in society.
