The Mahottari branch of the Nepal Electricity Authority has arrested 12 people in the district on Thursday on the charge of their involvement in electricity pilferage.
Chief of Jaleshwor branch of NEA, Jitendra Jha, said that 12 people were arrested from Sahodawa, Chauria, Banauli and Musarpatti VDCs in the district under the Electricity Leakage Control Campaign.
The arrested are under police control.
According to the District Police Office, Mahottari, they would be fined between Rs 5000 to Rs 10,000 as per the nature of their crime.
Similarly, the branch also seized different electrical goods including television sets and fans, among others.
