Criminal activities have gone up in Dolpa district during this year’s ongoing Yarsa Gumba collection season.
Though security bodies have claimed that the district security has been beefed up, the incidents of criminal activities are still increasingly evident here.
During the period since last mid-April, five unidentified dead bodies have been recovered, while two incidents of robbery at Hurikot of Kaigaun VDC, arrest of smugglers with weapons from Bagdanda of Majhphanl, loot of money at the same place and the theft of 40 pieces of Buddha idols from Gumbatara of Saharta VDC occurred in the district.
The incident of robbery of Rs 60 million along with seven tolas of gold by an armed group is still in mystery. The unknown group had robbed the amount and valuables from 24 businessmen at Sundaha of Upper Dolpa while returning home from Tibet last year.
The police administration has been repeatedly saying that investigation into the incident is underway but no action has been taken against anyone involved in the criminal activity.
