Chairperson of CPN-Maoist Mohan Baidhya has expressed sadness over the inability of the government to exploit the country’s vast water resources to bring about economic prosperity and development in the country.
Speaking at a programme organised by Karnali Watershed Conservation Society in the capital on Friday, the Maoist stalwart claimed that most of the hydropower projects being built in the country are not in the interest of the nation.
Foreign interventions and vested interest in Nepal’s rich natural resources and means have grown to a great extent, he said, adding that all agreements related to country’s natural resources that are against the interest of the nation should be immediately scrapped.
Similarly, UML leader Bhim Rawal and UCPN (Maoist) leader Lilamani Pokharel stressed on the need to move ahead by conserving Nepal’s natural resources such as water resources, forests, soil and land.
