Premshila Yadav, a Nepali Congress (NC) worker from Constituency -3 of Tulsipur-3 in Siraha district, was ruthlessly beaten up by her in-laws on charge of witchcraft .
Family of Premshila's elder brother-in-law Gangai Yadav alias 'Lattu' beat her unconscious for casting an evil spell on his daughter. They claimed that Lattu's daughter Binda Devi fell sick after eating a delicacy prepared by Premshila.
The family attacked Premshila while she was sitting in the front porch of her home on Tuesday afternoon. Premshila's husband, Ram Pujan, who came to here rescue, was also beaten by his brother's family.
According to an eyewitness, Somani Devi Yadav, Premshila was laid in the middle of the road and beaten up mercilessly.
A team of Armed Police Force team on patrol found and rescued Premshila in injured state. Premshila was brought to Biratnagar-based Neuro Hospital after her injuries could not be treated at the local health post.
She went to the District Police Office seeking justice after she was discharged from the hospital on Thursday. She has filed complaint against her elder sister-in-law Durga Devi Yadav and her son Binod Yadav of beating her.
Gangai, who was allegedly involved in the beating, has been arrested by the police, Siraha District Police office informed. The Sukhipur area police office informed that the police are searching for the wife and son of Gangai who are on the run after the incident.
