The third round of talks between the top three parties, Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist), on Thursday morning at the official residence of the Prime Minister in Baluwater finally ended on a note of consensus.
“We have reached agreement on five issues,” said UCPN (Maoist) Post Bahadur Bogati. “We’ve decided to work together to deal with the problems of this transitional period.”
The top leaders have decided to constitute a political committee comprising of major parties to continue discussions on remaining issues of peace process and constitution writing. The parties have also decided to make a formal proposal to take ownership of the decisions made by the former CA.
At agreement has also been reached to form a parliamentary investigation committee for addressing the concerns raised by the UCPN (Maoist) regarding the Constituent Assembly election and for carrying out a study on the recent price hike.
The parties also discussed the formation of CA committees.
“The parties have agreed to nominate members of the proposed committees in time for the CA chairman to announce it on Friday’s meeting,” said NC leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula. “We will continue our discussions ”
