Leaders of the top three parties, Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoists) met at the prime minister’s office in Baluwatar on Tuesday.
The leaders discussed formation of Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and a Commission for the Disappeared, and other issues regarding the Constitution Assembly and the peace process.
“We had demanded that a bill regarding TRC and Commission for the Disappeared be presented in the parliament within five days,” said UCPN (Maoist) leader Post Bahadur Bogati after the meeting. “We’ve been told that the process is underway.” Leader Bogati also the formation of a probe committee on the irregularities during the CA election was also discussed.
It was expected that today’s meeting would make progress on nomination of 26 CA members and formation of thematic committees. However, no concrete decisions were made. According to NC leader Ram Chandra Poudel, the names of the members of the different committee members will be filed within Friday.
