Thirteen among the 16 workers trapped in an under-construction tunnel of Upper Madi Hydropower Project in Sildujure of Kaski have been rescued safely on Saturday.
The workers , 12 Nepalis and one Chinese citizen - who were trapped after the landslide blocked the main entrance to the tunnel were rescued some 12 hours after the incident that occurred Friday afternoon.
However, reports coming in say three others who were trapped in the tunnel are still out of contact and that authorities involved in rescue efforts are trying to establish contact with them in order to bring them out safely.
A team of Nepal Army and Nepal Police personnel had succeeded in rescuing the 13 trapped workers at around 4 am this morning. A number of locals had also helped the team in the rescue efforts.
After being rescued, the workers were taken to the West Regional Hospital in Pokhara, where doctors assigned for their treatment said that they have not sustained any serious injuries. Most of the workers have now been discharged from the hospital after undergoing primary treatment.
