Arav Samrat Hada and Rayena Shah have won the singles titles in the sixth Kesha Group JTI Open Junior Lawn Tennis Championship held at Satdobato on Wednesday.
Hada defeated Aki Juben Raut 6-10, 10-8 and 10-8 sets to win the gold medal in U-8 boys’ singles while Shah claimed the title of U-9 girls’ singles after beating Aja Regmi 8-4 set.
Meanwhile, Saksham Karki and Abhay Gauchan have advanced to the final of the U-16 boys’ singles of the tournament.
Karki thrashed Avash Bahadur Malla in straight sets (6-3 and 7-5) as Gauchan also beat Kastup Raj Pandey in straight sets (6-3 and 6-2) to enter the final.
Similarly, twin sisters’ duo Mayaka and Mahika Rana defeated opponent twin sisters’ duo Cathrin and Ani Mathema 6-3 and 6-5 sets to set final berth with the pair of Bijisha Shrestha and Bibhuti Karki under open girls’ doubles.
Shrestha and Karki defeated duo Swostika and Phura Sherpa 6-0 and 6-0 straight sets in another semi-final match.
In the U-12 girls’ singles, Utsabi Joshi and Alsa Regmi are set to vie in the final for the title. Joshi secure victory against Riyasha Vaidya 6-1 and 6-0 while Regmi beat Avilasha Bista 2-6, 6-0 and 6-1 sets.
