Biratnager continues winning streak in One-Day Nat’l Cricket

Region No. 1 Biratnagar has continued its winning streak after defeating leader Region No. 4 Bhairahawa by 96 runs in the Pepsi Standard Chartered One-Day National Cricket Tournament held at TU Ground in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

Biratnagar has also strengthened its chances for the next round after three consecutive victories.  Bhairahawa has already advanced to the semis after winning four matches.

Biratnagar’s fate for the next round depends on its remaining two matches. If it wins both the matches, it will enter the semis as Group B winner.

Region No. 2 Birgunj has already made it to the semis round as Group A winner after winning all its four matches held in Pokhara.

Though Biratnagar was all out in 42.4 overs to 179 runs, Bhairahawa was packed just to 83 runs in 20.3 overs. Raj Kumar Pradhan claimed six wickets while Puspa Thapa scored highest 43 runs for Biratnagar.

Similarly, Region No. 9 Dhangadi thrashed Region No. 7 Janakpur by six wickets to register second win in the tournament after playing four matches held at Engineering Ground.

In another match of the day held in Pokhara, Region No. 8 Pokhara secured 67 runs victory against APF. This is the second win for Pokhara after playing three matches.

With the win, Pokhara is also in the row towards the semis berth from Group A. Pokhara scored 198 runs in 47 overs in the first inning.

While chasing the target, APF was all out just to 131 runs in 30.1 overs. Subash Pradhan 54 runs half-century went in vain after defeat.

Nischal Pandey grabbed five wickets as Dipesh Khatri scored 35 runs, Pandey and Shiv Subedi 28 runs each for the winning side.
