CAN, players agree to form planning, monitoring committee

6:17 PM

After two days of talks, the National Cricket Team and Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) have agreed to form a planning and monitoring committee to end the dispute between the two sides.

The second round of meeting on Wednesday held in the presence of National Sports Council member secretary Yuvaraj Lama and under-secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Shantiram Sharma concluded with the three point agreement.

As per the agreement, the five-member committee will be formed under the coordination of Lama including player, coach, CAN members and officials from the Youth and Sports Ministry. The committee will monitor the overall cricket activities and demands of the players.

Except changing in the management of CAN, both the sides have also agreed to fulfill nine-point demands of the players.

The National Team had announced to boycott the national tournaments demanding new management in CAN  last Thursday. However, it is next to impossible to dissolve existing CAN management legally.

As the first meeting on Tuesday between players and CAN failed to reach a consensus, the second meeting was set for Thursday.
