The Tribhuvan University has fixed the date of the Free Students Union ( FSU ) election for coming May 28.
A meeting of high level office-bearers of the TU held on Monday made the decision to this regard.
Ganga Bahadur Thapa, Chief of TU´s Student Welfare and Sports Department, told RSS that the date was fixed on the basis of talks and dialogue held among different student organizations.
Although the election date was fixed last year, it was cancelled due to dispute among student organizations. The FSU election was held in 2065BS last time.
The election was affected time and again due to dispute among student organizations over election modality.
However, the Nepal Students Union (NSU) and All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANN FSU ) have welcomed the announcement of the election date, the All Nepal National Independent Students Union (ANNISU)-Revolutionary, closed to UCPN (Maoist) and CPN-Maoist, have protested it.
NSU Spokesperson UP Lamichhane said that that all student organizations should be committed to hold the FSU election .
Vice-Chairman of the ANNISU-Revolutionary, closed to UCPN (Maoist), Ramesh Malla, said that the date fixed by TU in an arbitrarily manner would not be acceptable to them.
