The Malaysian government has agreed to provide employment opportunities to additional 200,000 Nepali workers within the next one year.
This was agreed in a discussion held at the Ministry of Labor and Employment between high ranking government officials of both the countries.
Both the parties have also agreed to form a bilateral task force to address issues like management of Nepali workers and their terms and conditions in the high level talks led by Malaysian Home Minister also looking after Labor Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Nepal's Minister of State for Labor and Employment Tek Bahadur Gurung.
Both sides also agreed to enter Mutual Labor Understanding if any problems arise between them.
The task force will prepare framework of the understanding and homework will be started soon, said Minister of State Gurung.
He also said Malaysia has assured to treat judiciously to Nepalese in prisons for which the Malaysian minister has responded positively.
Malaysia is ready to provide training to Nepalese workers, Nepalese Ambassador to Malaysia Dr. Niranjan Mansingh Basnyat told.
Malaysia has been providing employment opportunities to Nepalese workers for the past 13 years.
Last fiscal year, Nepal received Rs 33 billion as remittances from Malaysia, out of total Rs 388 billion, which is third after India and gulf countries, and this year Rs 265 billion of remittance in total has been already received in six months of the current fiscal year, the Ministry of Finance said.
