The National Cricket Team players have demanded new management in Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) as the present management has turned a deaf-ear to their demands.
“We need new management in the CAN,” said National Team captain Paras Khadka in a press conference on Thursday. “No one in the current CAN management is accountable.”
"All the players are clear that the existing board is not appropriate for the development of cricket in the country," said Khadka, adding that this board cannot take Nepali cricket to the next level.
The players have also announced to boycott the Pepsi Standard Chartered One-Day National Cricket Tournament that kicked off on Wednesday. Khadaka also said the tournament is meaningless while they should have been in training for the upcoming ACC Premier League 2014 that is scheduled to start from May 1-7, 2014 in Malaysia.
The national regional tournaments are meant for selection of players and this is not appropriate time to organise the event, he added.
The players also expressed irritation over the CAN management, which has cited lack of money in its coffers for its inability to pay the players their salary for the last eight months.
