6:26 PM

Around 100,000 visitors have seen ICT Electronics and Branding Expo 2014 in the two days since it opened on Thursday at Exhibition Hall, Bhrikuti Mandap. The organiser, the Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Association of Nepal, said that most of the attendees were SLC-appeared students.

The expo, which is in its seventh edition, will run till Monday. It hosts 104 stalls from companies showcasing new products and services related to information, communication and technology.

The fair displays products like laptops, tablets, mobiles, software, servers, sound systems, networking systems, security systems, pri-nters, projectors, e-scooters, home appliances, and mobile and computer accessories, among others.

Shovan Sainju, secretary general of the association, said that the fair had been successful in providing information about the latest products in information technology and branding. “Exhibitors are having business-to-business meetings, and they are interacting with customers,” he said. “Visitors have been thronging the stalls and obtaining information about the products and services on offer.”

Sainju added that they had been holding the expo every year as the information and communication sector had been growing rapidly in recent years. “There has been massive development of information technology in remote areas of the country too, and people want to know the specifications and prices of the products,” he said. “So we have organized the fair to allow people to find out about the various products and buy them at a single destination.”

Sainju said that visitors had a chance to win various prizes like projectors, laptops and mobiles through a lucky draw. Various companies have been offering discounts and incentive schemes in a bid to boost sales of their products.”

A number of companies have launched new products during the fair. Call Mobility, the authorised distributor of Huawei mobiles in Nepal, has introduced three new models—the Huawei Ascend G 6, G 630 and G 730. Summit Pradhananga, marketing manager at the company, said that they had been getting overwhelming response from customers.

Likewise, Horizon Enterprises, which recently unveiled a range of mobiles from the BQ brand, said that the expo provided a good platform for marketing their products.

“We introduced BQ mobiles a month ago, but many people still don’t now about them. The fair has been a great opportunity to promote them among customers,” he said.
