UCPN (Maoist) senior leader Baburam Bhattarai has said that the path declared by CPN-Maoist chairperson Mohan Baidya that the latter would resort to "people's war" is entirely harmful and counter-productive.
"The capitalist revolution has been completed in Nepal applying some pro-people as well as some old methods. It's not appropriate now to announce that one would re-embrace pro-people strategies," said Bhattarai while speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Saturday.
"Mr Baidya and his party are stressing on waging a people's war again. In my opinion, it would be simply a wrong way and thus, more detrimental," he said.
Bhattarai's remarks have landed at a time when Baidya has been saying that his party would restart an armed revolt or people's war, which the Maoists started in 1996 and ended in 2006 after signing a peace accord.
In a different note, Bhattarai said a new power centre will be established once the constitution making process is over.
"My request is that our party has to transform itself first and take the initiatives for forming a new force incorporating other political parties," Bhattarai said cautioning that, in case of failing to transform his party the UCPN (Maoist), something new will certainly happen.
"A new and different political force will emerge then," he argued.
